Summit Lake & Yosemite’s Peaks

A stunning four-hour ride on horseback to the top of Burro Pass where you can look out on Summit Lake and the peaks of northern Yosemite. Return to the pack station includes panoramic views of the picturesque alpine lakes and the mountains of Virginia Lakes Canyon. This horseback ride near Yosemite is a fantastic half-day adventure!

What To Bring

Sunscreen and bug spray (apply before getting in the saddle!)
Sunglasses
Sturdy shoes or boots
Hat (either a baseball cap or a hat that has a chinstrap)
Jacket/sweater recommended (your jacket can be tied on the back of your saddle)
Bottle of water

What We Provide

Snacks
We will furnish a small horn-bag for your water bottle and small personal items. Be sure that your “carry-on” gear (camera, snacks, water) weigh no more than three pounds.

You have the choice of going to either the Bodie Overlook or Blue Lake. Both rides are suitable for beginner riders and pass through the beautiful sagebrush flora of the eastern Sierra with stunning views.

This ride takes you up into the Virginia Lakes Canyon where you see stunning views of Blue Lake, ride right by a historic miner’s cabin, and stop at beautiful Cooney Lake.

Ride through all of beautiful Virginia Lakes Canyon and climb up to Burro Pass for lunch to a grassy meadow with an overlook of Summit Lake and the peaks of northern Yosemite.
